Felipe VI will be crowned the new king of Spain on June 19

Felipe of Borbón, Prince of Asturias and son of the current King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, will become the new King of Spain on next Thursday 19th of June. He will be crowned King of Spain under the name of Felipe VI and, according to the experts, he will be the best and more qualified Spanish King in the country’s History

The current King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, abdicated last week, announcing his retiremet with the aim of allowing the new generations to lead the road to future and the nation’s new challenges, facing them, especially those related to the finance crisis that the country is trying to leave behind.

The King took the decission to abdicate on last January 6. All through these last five months, Juan Carlos I has worked in close collaboration with his son in order to prepare the relief.

King Juan Carlos I has reigned for the last 38 years. He has been a key person to bring democracy to Spain after General Franco passed away in 1975. However, throughout the last years a number of scandals has overshadowed the good image of Spanish monarchy.
