In 2018 Nerja has been consolidated as one of the most important places of language tourism in Spain. Its privileged geographic location, with a mild climate all year round, its natural environment and the friendliness of its citizens make Nerja one of the favourite destinations of the 150,000 students from all over the world who travel to Spain every year to learn Spanish.
According to data from 2017, Germany, with a 25.4% of the total, holds first place as the country of origin of the students taking a Spanish course at the School. Next came students from Switzerland (20.9%), Scandinavian countries (12.9%), the UK (12.42%), the USA (5.78%) and the Netherlands (4.64%).
The relevance and impetus of the Spanish language all over the world means increasingly more people travel to Spain with the main objective of learning Spanish and getting to know the country’s culture. There are currently more than four hundred and fifty million Spanish speakers in the world. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language worldwide by number of native inhabitants, the second language channelling more international relations and also the second most studied in the world.
In Nerja, the Spanish language student is pleased by the rich cultural, historical and gastronomic heritage of the area. In addition, this area of the Costa del Sol can boast natural landscapes and beaches, the peacefulness of its streets and the warmth and friendliness of its people.
Escuela de Idiomas Nerja, with almost 40 years of experience, is getting ready, like every year, to welcome new students with the philosophy of offering our visitors maximum comfort and professionalism. Our pursuit of excellence seeks in this case to adapt to students’ new needs in the new millennium.
The School is nationally and internationally acclaimed as one of the most important Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) centres in Spain. It maintains its firm commitment to offer a global Spanish learning experience in a unique environment and under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) criteria, in order to ensure the sustainability of language tourism in the Costa del Sol.
