An increase in cultural trips to the main cities in Andalucía, like Córdoba, Sevilla, Málaga andGranada, is one of the main novelties in the activity program that the Direction of the School has prepared for Spring/Summer 2014 season. In addition to that, beach-volley is back, as well as wine tastings guided by experts, new hiking routes, free cinema in big HD screen and theme parties, which are just some of many activities programmed so that students enjoy with the arrival of spring.

The Andalucian school has planned a complete and varied out-of-classroom event schedule, which represents an ideal partner to an academic learning of Spanish. The aim of these sociocultural activities is to consolidate and improve the use of the Spanish language in a relaxed and playful atmosphere, out of the four walls of the typical classroom.

There will be weekly day-trips to the main cities in Andalucía, like Córdoba, Sevilla, Málaga andGranada, where the main monuments of the city will be visited, always with the expert guidance of a teacher. In relation to these excursions, Francisco Dueñas, Activity Manager, says that “learning a language is much more than lessons in a classroom” and that, thanks to extracurricular events it is possible to know further inherent aspects of Spanish culture, not only the language. Morover, Dueñas points out, “the atmosphere in activities is more relaxed than in a formal lesson and, so, communicative interaction in Spanish can appear in a more playful and less formal way.

It must be highlighted the Hiking route to Nerja’s Cahorros, which started in Summer 2012, whose extraordinary success has encouraged teachers to include it in the extracurricular activity program for 2014. This activity entails a medium-level walk, some three hours long, with a majestic finale: the fresh water natural waterfall placed in an area called Los Cahorros, a location that all the students choose to have a bath and take photos to show that they finally succeeded in the ascent
